Silent madness of an empty hour

A day has got 24 hours but sometimes it feels too little and some other times it feels too much. The entity time has and will always be constant but your heart and mind that use it approach it with different respects according to their own feelings. The difference between the two situations is how absorbed are you during a particular activity. The absorption you show is heavily driven by your passion, aspirations and inclusions that you have within yourself. It is not easy to be completely self-aware about everything we do in life but it is also not hard to put efforts towards being in touch with your self every now and then. It does not take some hours long brainstorming miracle to understand where we stand currently in life, it just takes one brief absolute silent moment on a random day to trigger the thought and arrive at an understanding.

One night you pause for a moment and realize your back is arched, your shoulders hunched forward as you sit slumped in your chair. A wave of exhaustion hits you with your sore muscles screaming for a stretch, and you wonder: what did I do today to feel so tired? In good conscience, you straighten your posture and try to get back to whatever you were doing, but the question lingers. Can you actually recollect what filled your day? Do you remember who you talked to and why each conversation mattered? Do you know what you'll be doing when you wake up tomorrow, or are you just drifting into another day of reactive hustle? Are you caught up with the people in your life who matter most, or have weeks slipped by in shallow exchanges? Most importantly: are you in touch with your inner self, aware of the unresolved feelings that might be quietly shaping your choices? If you have clear answers to these questions, you're doing something right. If not, each blank represents a hole within you of variable raidus depending on what you do not know. The holes which you are trying to be distracted from with doomsday scrolling, binge-watching or some other sort of digital noise. That inexplicable tiredness? It might not be from doing too much. It might be from living too little on purpose.

The one thing that all these questions point out to is not that complicated actually. The lack of answers and how unaware that you are of them is just an indication of how disconnected you are. It could be from the world or yourself. This is not a problem of lack of information, but just the lack of commitment and energy to want to stay in touch with your roots. Where are you from, where are you right now and where are you headed to? Why would a human being of the modern era try to find answers to questions without deadlines when they have such amounts of entertainments and distractions at their disposal waiting to be used. You don't even need to be paying for some of it, a lot of it is available for free just to be consumed by you. But, always remember the golden rule of business, If you are not paying for it, then you are the product. That topic is a discussion for another day, but the point is that if getting high were equivalent to distractions then you are sitting around bags of dope which are leaking 24/7. Even your sleep is invaded by your dearest entertainment.

You might think disconnecting is actually bad, but the point is, disconnecting is actually healthy when it is done on the opposite side of the chord. Don't get me wrong when I say that you should be disconnected completely, go off the grid and be one with nature. Although, that thought is healthy and recommended, it ain't that practical. Disconnect from the unnecessary and unhealthy distractions that just eat away your time for little bits of dopamine here and there. They are good for a momentary laugh but they steal away your actual happiness in the long run. The disconnecting from the grid should be periodically planned out so that you can still be a silly monk of the modern era. That moment of awareness—when you straighten your back and wonder where the day went—isn't a failure. It's an invitation. The question is: will you accept it, or will you reach for another distraction? The holes aren't the problem. Pretending they don't exist is.

    1. I think you found it relatable enough to comment. So, I hope you are living the life you want to the fullest. Good day!

    2. So I did. What is the point of living if we keep restricting ourselves at every step instead of doing what truly matters to us? Life is complicated and so are our emotions, but that should drive us to form meaningful connections where we can and let go of the ones that hold us back. Isn’t that another part of staying true to ourselves? (rhetorical as it might be, still a point or so id like to think)

    3. Indeed. Fly when you have wings and run when you have legs. Do not wait for some magic to happen and then take off to where you want to go. Sometimes, you might be on time or else it might be too late. It isn't rhetorical as long as you are honest with it. So, don't hold back at anything or for anyone.

    4. Even if it takes time for the change to click in its place , i think it's best to live life to its fullest. Who knows what might happen the next moment. Someone you once knew but lost in touch might show up randomly or someone you thought you didn't like but deep down you do might end up passing away. In your life where change is the only thing that's constant, why risk it all by being afraid of opening up? (or opening your wings- any analogy works i suppose? but you're the better writer here so you'd know?)

    5. It could be being afraid, could be lethargy, could be laziness or it could be one of many reasons. But, when reality hits us hard on the face, the reason wouldn't matter but only the present and perseverance to handle it does. So live your life if not to the fullest atleast till you find a few full circles because at the end of it all that's what you carry to the grave, the moments of fulfillment. (I am no writer, I just express things in a way I find comfortable I guess)

    6. That's exactly why at least trying to live one's life to the fullest, as much as possible, is important. As long as you're not purposefully hurting anyone and are doing what you truly enjoy, putting in—at minimum—that much effort for yourself is essential. It's very easy to get caught in the minuscule yet irritating cycle of not being able to do that because of x, y, z reasons, and in turn amplifying those reasons further. Pushing ourselves to not get stuck in this is crucial—first for us, and then for the people around us too. (Okay Mr. not a self-proclaimed writer (still a writer nonetheless). And yes, writing being therapeutic, it makes sense for you to put these opinions out here or well, anywhere .)
