ππ Ύπ ²π Έπ °π » π Όπ ΄π ³π Έπ ° vs SO-PALE MEDIOCRITY
Social life is one of the most sought and ambitious things that people have been trying to pursue for a long time. In general, we often interpret someone's well-being only by using the social life they have as a metric to measure their happiness quotient. The one medium through which people can share their personal life how and what they are up to is through social media of course. Social media is that source of information about someone that needs to be taken with an ocean of salt and not just a pinch.
Back then, to get to know someone and their hobbies, we had to interact with them personally and there is no workaround for it. Currently, we need an average of 5 minutes to crack down someone's profile and corner down the information we want to obtain. We even have a great word for it called 'Stalking'. This abundance of information just kills any kind of mystery surrounding a person. I am a person who believes in the quote that MYSTERY ABOUT YOU MAKES YOU MORE WANTED THAN THE GRANDIOSE AROUND YOU.
The one factor that is making social media what it is right now is the influencers in it. An influencer is a person who has the power to influence people emotionally from this point of view. According to that definition, any and every person on social media right now is an influencer. People agitate each other with their one-sided POVs all the time. When the term was coined there were a handful of people with a certain niche of people with whom they used to interact and influence. But, nowadays every keyboard warrior, beauty standards faking person, and every being(yup those pet and baby accounts too) owning a social media account is an influencer.
I am not saying that social media is nothing but harmful, if used with the right agenda and transparency it indeed is a powerful tool. Some people are just a bit old school to adapt themselves to this culture and that is also not wrong to be feeling bad about it. Everyone has their own space, some want to share it and others just don't. Wanting to share that space is fine but oversharing is where the problem begins because sometimes your personal space isn't just about you but is an intersection with someone other than you. Sharing stuff about them without consent is not only demeaning their trust in you but also breaching their consent.
My closing statement is that social media has given a great convenience to mankind and it is now and always the wrong thing to be taking it for granted and using it for spreading personal propaganda. Share positivity through either your content or supporting someone for their content. In this ocean amount of influencers with their right-left wing ideologies, be a genuine one, and exist to share stuff that fascinates you and not the ones that frustrate you. Social life is always pretty when you see it on a screen, once you bypass that thin line the truth will be so eye-opening bright, and unbelievably dull at the same time that your eyes wouldn't believe what they see.
